The 3 bad villains now gone.
I know that the past 6 months have in geneal been a Thai stock investor disappointment.
I also know that my guarded re-optimism late last April has not (yet) materialized. With hindsight at hand, I should have waited before implementing the 2 new model portfolio. However next week I hope to show some gains on the "strong buy" model which I will update by October 4.
Members see here the "portfolio update" article back then at this link: http://thaistocks.com/node/5706
Since then I also introduced "a strong buy" model portfolio as well, as all shown at the member porfolio update links.
Yet the many pessimists were equally off-course as the SET benchmark index actually changed very little during the past 6 months. The key was not to panick out -and I did not. In June with the SET at 646, I called the bottom...for what its worth. :) An astute long term value investor knows when to wait, just like the Polar bear awaits for days/weeks for the walruses on an isolated island.
The wild & unpredictable card, more then anything else was Thai politics, but to a good extend that card has now been played and things look better, or shall we say, less concerning. Going forward there is more of chance on missing-out then in holding on to the favored stocks-and this is why I would maintain a fully invested position.
The SET index has now moved around 700 for over 3 years, and this will soon resolve itself on the upside, perhaps next week we will see this? The 3 bad villains are now gone: Thaskin, high oil prices and rising interest rates. This is what I believe and so say to all you members -and vote for with my own stake.
Having visited in person all the companies I here like, I am very confident about their overall higher earnings and dividend paying ability next year! I remain convinced the market will soon realize this and so on averaged value them upwards. Even so if never on time and never at once.
Call the past 6 months "Thaskin dead money", just as years before he was a stabilizing & upbeat force for some time which generated very good SET returns.
Its time to move on, and so will Thai shares and as I try to pick them for us, probably to higher levels before year end. Of course only you can decide what is best for you, but I am staying fully invested.
Best Regards,
Paul A. Renaud.
